The big day has arrived – it’s your tattoo day! We understand that even after the consultation, a little nervousness is normal, especially for your first tattoo in Bern.
At NKINK Tattoo Studio Bern, our process is built on transparency, comfort, and the highest standards of safety. Since you’ve already met with our resident artist, Noemi Kovacs, and seen the studio, let’s walk through what to expect when you ring the bell for your session.
1. Welcome & Setting the Mood
You arrive at the pre-arranged time and ring the bell. We open the door and welcome you into the waiting room of our private studio. We start with a short, casual talk—maybe a coffee or tea—to set a calm mood for the day ahead.
2. Paperwork: Safety First
Before any ink flows, we must complete the necessary legal steps. You’ll fill out a health and pre-tattoo consent form. Together, we will review important questions about health conditions, as certain situations (like being under 18, pregnancy, or taking antibiotics) may prevent us from tattooing that day. Safety always comes first—for both you and our artist.
3. Design Finalization: The Creative Step
Now for the exciting part! Together with Noemi, we finalize the tattoo design. This crucial step is part of the session itself. We discuss final elements, perfect the placement, and confirm the exact size.
Noemi takes a photo of the chosen body part and uses ProCreate to digitally finalize and visualize your custom tattoo. We look together in the mirror until every detail, line, and flow feels exactly right for your body.
4. Control & Stencil Application
Once the design is confirmed, Noemi creates the stencil—a purple outline that serves as a guide for proportion and alignment. This is your final check:
- The stencil is applied.
- You check everything in the mirror: placement, size, and flow with your body.
- Patience is key here. Sometimes, we need one or two tries to make it perfect, and that is absolutely fine.
When the stencil is finalized, we let it dry for 15–20 minutes. You can take a short break, but please avoid touching or moving the area.
5. Preparation & Swiss Hygiene Protocol
Your comfort relies on our professionalism. Before we begin, Noemi meticulously prepares the entire workstation. Every surface is disinfected and covered with protective barriers.
Our Hygiene Commitment:
- Skin Prep: We clean the tattoo area with antibacterial soap, shave it if necessary with a new disposable razor, and disinfect it.
- Sterile Setup: Noemi shows you the brand-new, disposable needles and explains the professional use of the machine and inks.

6. Getting Ready & The Clear ‘Yes’
We position you—sitting, lying on your back, or on your stomach—for both your comfort and clear access for Noemi.
Noemi will always ask: “Are you ready?” Only when you give a clear “yes” does the process begin.
7. The Tattoo Process
The machine hums softly, and the journey begins. Noemi works systematically: outlines, then details, shading, filling, and finally highlights.
We take regular breaks every 50–60 minutes, so you can stretch, eat, drink, or simply breathe. Communication is constant—tell us if you need a pause or adjustment.
8. Tattoo Aftercare & Follow-Up
Once the tattoo is finished, you remain in the studio for 30–60 minutes. This allows the skin to rest and calm down. For first-timers, Noemi will guide you through the first cleaning together in the bathroom.
- You receive both verbal and written After Tattoo Care instructions.
- We encourage clients to send pictures in the next two days so Noemi can follow up on the initial healing process.
9. Photography, Payment & Goodbye
Before wrapping the piece, professional photos are taken. Then, Noemi carefully applies a protective tattoo cover. You settle the payment, sign off on the finished work, and discuss the next possible session (a follow-up in 5–6 weeks for larger projects or a check-up).
A tattoo day at NKINK Tattoo Studio Bern is about teamwork, trust, and creating beautiful, lasting art.
